Career Development - The Science, The Strategies, The Practice
Many go about their work lives giving very little thought on how everyday life could lead towards a focused career trajectory. For some “success” is measured by simple metrics: position, salary, publications.
From February 1 – 3, 2022, join the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) and professionals at every stage of their career for a Virtual Winter School. Develop your skill sets and better understand how to move towards career success.
This year’s program will help attendees:
- Assess their skill sets to better understand who they are and where they are going
- Better understand their core values and how they are perceived by others professionally
- What steps they can take to set their career on the right path to success.
Everyday decisions are usually guided by our experiences and knowledge. Attendees will learn how understanding their values can increase their decision-making skills and help with everyday tasks such as work-task prioritization, career development and self-advocacy. Attendees will reflect on their values and how this can change the perception and evaluation of career success.
Understanding our core values does not automatically provide us with the skill to effectively communicate those with peers. Attendees will learn how to define their values, advocate for themselves and what to do when things don't go according to plan.
To help translate these new skills into success, attendees will learn techniques for personal strategic planning and be given an opportunity to reflect on how the tools they’ve been given have shifted their mindset.
